Weed & Exercise: Can Cannabis Before a Workout Help You Perform Better?
A new study found that using cannabis can increase your workout endurance and performance.
The University of Colorado conducted a survey with 600 cannabis users in legal states. The survey asked about their workout frequency and marijuana use.
The results showed that 80 percent of the participants answered they smoke an hour or less before working out and 40 percent said they feel that it helps with their workout performance.
70 percent of participants said they enjoyed working out more and 78 percent claimed that it helps with their discovery. The cannabinoids in marijuana have anti-inflammatory properties that can help with muscle pain. This is one of the reasons why many athletes may use marijuana not just as a pre-workout pick-me-up with sativa but also as a post-workout treatment for injuries with CBD.
A surprising discovery in the research also showed that people who used marijuana before or after working out exercise 43 minutes more per week than those who don’t smoke.
There was not a control group in the study so the data may be skewed. Regardless of that, it could be worth a try.
