Massachusetts workers might stop getting fired over cannabis usage

Bill that could stop workers from being fired for cannabis use

In

Massachusetts, a proposed law could potentially stop employers from firing employees for legally using cannabis in private and on their own time

As reported by, The Boston Globe, the measure filed by Democratic state Sen. Jason Lewis would handle cannabis similarly to alcohol. Employees could be fired for arriving to work under the influence, but employers could not control the private consumption of cannabis.

Currently, recreational cannabis consumption in the state is legal for adults. Yet employees can still be fired for using cannabis, even if it is outside the place of work and the effects have worn off by the time they return to their positions.
