Jay-Z Enters the Weed Industry
Caliva is a cannabis company that is based in California. He will be working on boosting the benefits that come with the legalization of cannabis in the communities that were affected the hardest by the War on Drugs.
On Tuesday, High Times reported that Jay-Z has officially agreed to a multi-year partnership with the company to focus on increasing the opportunities for those who missed out them. The War on Drugs has been going on for decades and families of generations have suffered from it.
Many have been held back getting jobs because of their past records. Inmates who were or are incarcerated for what is now a misdemeanor will hopefully get the opportunity to continue living life again as an equal.
Jay-Z indicated to High Times, “we want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.”
Issues like job training and workforce development are just two of the many things that Jay-Z and Caliva will be addressing. Caliva’s website states, “…Mr. Carter will focus on and work to increase the economic participation of citizens returning from incarceration - many of who are not seeing the monetary benefits of legalization - through advocacy, job training, and overall employee and workforce development.”
